Every two out of three men have or will have to face localised hair loss problem : forehead or tonsure
38% will be more or less partially bald
Baldness is the cause of health disorders as men who are bald are more prone to
This is why more and more men are having recourse to hair transplant according to the microfollicular hair transplant technique. It is very easy to implant grafts of 1, 2 or 3 hair in between existing hair with satisfactory results.
Hair loss among is more often of an androgenetical nature.
It is by far the most common capillary deficiency among men. This is is linked to an enzyme, the alphareductase 5, which becomes hyperactive and which then needs to be controlled.
It is known as androgenetical since it follows from an hereditary predisposition. Thus, most of those suffering from hairloss, have either their father or a grandfather who must have faced this problem as well, but this does not mean that all men suffering from an androgenetical alopecia will have children who will be predisposed to this.
Only a few suffer from diffused alopecia.
Hair is thin across the head rather than being thin on localised areas (forehead, tonsure) as it is the case with androgenetical alopecia. The cause is most often due to a deficiency or punctual external factors (stress, fatigue, pollution, depression, overwork, intake of certain medication or drugs...)
It is not hereditary and can occur at any moment in one's life
As it is the case with the other cells of the human body, the hair is alive and follows a natural growth cycle. This cycle is divided into three phases : anagen, catagen and telogen
The anagen phase is the phase during which hair grows. It is the longest part of the hair growth cycle as it lasts between 2 to 5 years. Most of the hair we have are therefore in the anagen phase.
The catagen phase is the phase during which the hair stops growing. It lasts over about 3 weeks, which is negligible when compared to the previous phase.
And lastly, the telogen phase will occur after about 3 months, leading to the death or the loosening of the hair which will leave a free space for a new follicle in the anagen phase. Hair in the telogen phase, are those that we see everyday on our hairbrush.
It is the abnormal shortening of the hair growth cycle that leads to baldness
The number of hair growth cycles being limited (25 to 30 cycles in one's life), it is important to act quickly upon the noticing the first symptoms, so as to avoid the complete exhaustion of the hair capital in only a few years.
Causes of hairloss
"Hair loss is of androgenetical origin in 95% cases and is due to some deficiency in the remaining cases. An intake in nutritional elements (vitamins, oligo-elements) is then essential (for example "l'aliment de vie du cheveux" from the Laboratoires Arlor)"
The appearance of free radicals tend to cause the inflammation of the tissues and the ageing of the follicular cells. This being so, the lifespan of the hair is reduced.
It is essential to understand that the number of cycles are limited: during our lifespan, our hair will undergo 25 to 30 growth cycles.
The fact that these hair growth cycles have a lifespan of several years (2 to 5 years as mentioned above), we have in theory fairly enough hair growth to keep our hair until our last days.
It is therefore essential to act quickly upon the first symptoms of unusual hair loss, as once your hair capital has been exhausted, it will no longer be possible to regain your hair.
THE CURES
"It is easy to treat hair loss, with treatments against hair-loss, which will feed the hair folliclefrom the inside with adequate vitamins and oligo-elements. In cases of androgenetical hair-loss, there are today three efficacious medicines (the minoxidil, the finasteride and the dutasteride which is the most effective one). There are also performing nutritional supplements (alpharegul, vivascal and "l'aliment de vie du cheveux" from Laboratoires Arlor) which offers the advantages of not having any side effects and of being available over the counter without prescription."
